Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province and Chairman of the Eastern Province Development Authority, the authority signed a cooperation agreement with the Eastern Province Municipality and the Al-Fozan Foundation for Community Service, represented by the “Mujassam Watan” initiative, to develop the entrances to the Dammam metropolitan area.

Prince Saud praised the collaboration among various entities in the region to enhance the urban and visual landscape and the partnerships between the public and private sectors. He emphasized the importance of such efforts in fulfilling the aspirations of the leadership and achieving national goals to improve the quality of life for residents.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Engineer Fahad bin Mohammed Al-Jubeir, on behalf of the municipality; Engineer Omar bin Saleh Al-Abdulatif, CEO of the Eastern Province Development Authority; and Abdullah bin Abdulatif Al-Fozan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Fozan Foundation for Community Service.

The agreement aims to develop seven key entrances to Dammam, including the Riyadh-Dammam Highway entrance, King Fahd Road entrance near the airport, Dammam-Jubail Highway entrance, Dammam-Buqqayq Highway entrance, King Fahd Causeway entrance, Gulf Cooperation Council Road entrance, and the Al-Khobar-Salwa Coastal Road entrance.

The CEO of the Eastern Province Development Authority, Engineer Omar bin Saleh Al-Abdulatif, stated that the agreement aligns with the directives of the council’s chairman and the follow-up of its vice-chairman and executive committee head. It supports the authority’s efforts to improve the urban environment, fulfilling its strategic goals in collaboration with partners and relevant entities. He highlighted that city entrances are not merely passageways but serve as gateways that convey the region's identity, culture, history, and landmarks.

“This agreement is a vital step to enhance the first impression for visitors and to showcase the region’s landmarks in line with our developmental aspirations,” he said.

The agreement includes forming a joint task force to activate collaboration and coordinate efforts to achieve desired outcomes, positively impacting the urban landscape.
