Eastern Province Governor Honors Winners of the "Mujassam Watan" Competition
His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, received the chairman and board members of the "Mujassam Watan" competition and the winners of the sixth season today, Tuesday, at the governorate's Diwan. The competition focuses on sculptures in various squares, including Al-Qallafah Square, Al-Maseera Square, and Katheeb Square.
Prince Saud praised the organizers' efforts in enhancing the urban landscape and providing opportunities for young talents to contribute to the design of public spaces and serve the region. He also commended the role of the private sector in supporting community initiatives in cooperation with relevant authorities, in line with the leadership's aspirations to improve the quality of life for citizens and residents alike.
Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al Fozan, chairman of the competition's board, emphasized the significant support the competition receives from the Eastern Province Governorate and partners from both the public and private sectors, aiming to achieve the desired social cohesion. He highlighted the competition's success over six seasons in inspiring creatives and enriching cities with unique artistic landmarks.
Eng. Mohammed Al-Ghoneimi, the competition's operations manager, noted that the competition has successfully promoted a culture of art appreciation and innovation. He stated that this season, over 110 entries were received from across the Kingdom, and 10 finalists were selected based on stringent criteria.
At the end of the ceremony, Prince Saud honored the Al Fozan Community Service Program for its implementation of the "Khobar Memory Square" project on the occasion of Saudi Arabia's 94th National Day, as well as the winners of this season's competition.
The "Mujassam Watan" Award, one of the initiatives of the Al Fozan Community Service Program, is an annual national competition that brings creative works to life as sculptures, unveiled during National Day and Founding Day each year. Previous seasons have featured landmarks such as Al-Bairaq Roundabout, the Al-Ardah Square, and the Khobar Memory Square. Two new sculptures are scheduled to be unveiled in Khobar on the upcoming Founding Day.
